PD Dog School, based in Nottingham and serving the whole of the UK, specialise in Boxer dog training from twelve weeks of age. Boxers, originally developed in Germany, are bred from the Old English Boxer and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. They are part of the Molosser group, which is a category of large dogs known for their wide chest and muscular statures.
Originating from an Ancient Greecian shepherd dog, known as the Molossus, they are intelligent, high-energy and very protective. Regardless of their large build and active nature, they are very patient and make incredibly good companions to adults and children alike. It’s these qualities amongst many others that makes the Boxer such a loveable pet and a loyal protection or service dog.
Training options include:
With such admirable qualities, it’s important to note that without enough interaction and stimulation Boxers can become bored: chewing, digging or licking furniture and fixtures within your home. Obedience training is vital to prevent troublesome behaviours becoming habit and ensures that both you and your dog will be content.
We’ll begin with basic obedience training to ensure that your dog can respond to “sit”, “stay, “down”, recall and food refusal and fully socialise your canine in busy public spaces. Once the simple commands are learnt, our training specialists can move onto more complex protection or K9 training. Boxers respond very well to positive reinforcement, which makes them an excellent candidate for executive and protection dogs. Their natural suspicion of strangers, alertness and agility make them a formidable protection dog to deter thieves, intruders and attackers.
