PD Dog School, based in Nottingham and serving the whole of the UK, are highly experienced Caucasian Shepherd training specialists, working with puppies from twelve years of age. They are one of the most ancient breeds of the Molosser group, with archaeological evidence suggesting that they were around as far back as Mesopotamia, where civilised life began.
The Caucasian Shepherd was known to serve shepherds in the Caucasus mountains as a guard for livestock, protecting farms from wolves and bears. They have most recently been utilised as prison guard dogs in Russia because of their fearless attitude and intimidating stature. With professional Caucasian dog training, your canine can excel in professional roles due to their confident and intuitive attitudes. They are naturally protective and wary of strangers, which makes them ideal personal protection dogs.
Training options include:
Despite their huge frames and snarls, they are very loving and eager to please their owners, which is why it is so important to undertake professional training in obedience and protection. Whilst they are relatively low-energy dogs, they are very noisy and intimidating when threatened and can become quite aggressive towards other dogs without correct socialisation.
We’ll begin with environmental training, ensuring your dog is fully socialised to prevent unwanted aggression or shyness in public spaces. Our basic obedience training will see your dog correctly responding to “sit”, “stay”, “down”, recall and food refusal commands, and once mastered they will move onto more specialised training for protection or service. Although Caucasian Shepherds have a stubborn streak, our full handover will teach you how to be a firm and confident handler, to ensure that you remain the ‘pack leader’.
