Based in Nottingham and serving the whole of the UK, PD Dog School are Doberman training experts, working with puppies from twelve weeks of age. Dobermans were originally bred in Germany in the 1880’s by Herr Karl Louis Dobermann, a tax collector, policeman, dog catcher and nightguard, to protect him whilst carrying out his duties.
They were bred to be both attractive and menacing from their varied ancestry, which includes Weimaraners, Rottweilers, Great Danes and Greyhounds. Over the last century, they have proven to be impeccable protection dogs amongst other roles, including police work, scent-tracking, diving, search-and-rescue, and therapy and assistant dogs. Doberman puppy training at an early age is essential to harness the watchful and fearless instincts of your dog, allowing them to thrive in their future role.
Training options include:
Dobermans are very intelligent with high energy levels, so plenty of exercise and expert dog training is crucial for their development. They are even ranked amongst Border Collies, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers for their intellect and trainability. An unfulfilled Doberman can become very bored and destructive, so they require a high level of commitment and stimulation to keep them happy.
Early socialisation is crucial to prevent unwanted aggression and shyness when out in public places, so we’ll ensure your dog is introduced to busy spaces and new environments. We’ll begin with basic obedience, making sure that they correctly respond to “sit”, “stay”, “down”, recall and food refusal. Once they have mastered the initial commands, we’ll progress onto specialist training suited for their future role. Despite their aggressive portrayal in film and TV Dobermans can be very loving and good-natured, which makes them a perfect personal protection dog and pet.
