Malinois Training

PD Dog School, based in Nottingham and working across the UK, are Belgian Malinois training experts, working with a range of ages from a puppy to twelve weeks. The Malinois is a medium-large type of Belgian Shepherd dog widely used in the military, in Britain and worldwide. At first glance, they closely resemble the German Shepherd, but they differ slightly in size, temperament and energy levels.

Malinois are becoming an increasingly popular domestic pet, despite having retained their activity levels, temperament and intelligence of their working history. They need a lot of stimulation and exercise to keep them happy, so it’s important to undertake professional Malinois training to feed their natural desire to learn. Without such training, they can soon become destructive, unruly and can display a range of behavioural problems.

Training options include:

  • Basic obedience
  • Intermediate/advanced obedience
  • Person protection training
  • Executive protection training

Belgian Malinois Protection Dog

This breed is intelligent, active and versatile; they are capable of learning and performing a wide range of high-level commands which make Belgian Malinois protection dogs very popular. When considering purchasing a Malinois, it’s crucial to remember that they are incredibly work-orientated and therefore a big commitment for you and your family. It’s also important to check whether your local area is home to small animals such as rabbits or cats, as this breed has a very strong hunting instinct.

We’ll begin with environmental training, ensuring your dog is fully socialised to prevent unwanted aggression or shyness in public spaces. Our basic obedience training will see your dog correctly responding to “sit”, “stay”, “down”, recall and food refusal commands, and once mastered they will move onto more specialised training for protection or service.
